Non-Medical Help (NMH) Support Services

Specialist, Person-Centred Support for Higher Education Providers

At Ask A Teacher, we partner with universities, colleges and higher education providers to deliver high-quality Non-Medical Help (NMH) services that empower students to succeed.

Our specialist mentoring, study skills and wellbeing support is designed to remove barriers to learning, promote independence and improve academic outcomes. Every student is unique, which is why we carefully match learners with experienced practitioners who provide personalised, evidence-informed support tailored to their individual strengths, challenges and goals.

Whether you're looking for a trusted external provider or additional capacity to complement your existing student support provision, we're here to deliver a responsive, professional and person-centred service.

Why Partner with Ask A Teacher?

Student-Centred Approach

Every learner is different. We take the time to understand each student's needs before carefully matching them with the most suitable specialist practitioner, creating supportive relationships that encourage confidence, independence and success.

Specialist Expertise

Our practitioners have extensive experience in specialist mentoring, one-to-one study skills, neurodiversity, SEND, mental health, wellbeing and higher education, providing practical support that enables students to thrive both academically and personally.

Flexible & Responsive

Support is available online, face-to-face or through a blended approach, allowing us to work around the needs of your students and institution while responding quickly to referrals.

We work collaboratively with disability services, wellbeing teams and academic departments, ensuring communication is clear, professional and focused on achieving the best possible outcomes for every learner.

How We Work

From referral through to completion, we've designed our service to be straightforward, responsive and centred around the needs of every student.

Our service includes:

  • Efficient referral and onboarding.
  • Careful practitioner matching.
  • Flexible session scheduling.
  • Regular progress reviews.
  • Professional record keeping and documentation.
  • Ongoing communication with your institution.
  • Responsive support throughout the learner journey.

Accessible Communication

We recognise that communication isn't one-size-fits-all. Many students find emails overwhelming or difficult to manage, particularly when balancing university life alongside a disability, neurodivergence or mental health condition.

That's why, in addition to email and telephone support, students can contact our team via WhatsApp for day-to-day communication, appointment requests and general enquiries. We believe accessing support should be as simple and stress-free as possible.

Our Commitment to Quality

Quality underpins everything we do.

We are committed to:

  • Delivering evidence-informed, high-quality support.
  • Recruiting experienced, compassionate practitioners.
  • Promoting equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • Maintaining robust safeguarding and professional standards.
  • Working collaboratively with education providers.
  • Continuously improving our services through feedback, reflection and best practice.

Let's Work Together

Whether you're looking for a trusted NMH provider or additional specialist capacity to support your students, we'd love to discuss how Ask A Teacher can help.

Together, we can create inclusive learning environments where every student feels supported, valued and empowered to achieve their full potential.
